you have not mentioned whether you want to start business as sole proprietor or as partnership firm or as company .
if it is partnership firm it has to be registered with registrar of firms . if it is a company you have to register it with registrar of companies. follow procedure for incorporation of company .

The procedure for registration differs on the basis of the nature of the business. If you intend to make a firm then it will have to be registered with the registrar of firms, whereas a company will have to be registered in accordance with the law of company registration.

I assume that you want to start propitiatory firm.
You have to register your firm under Karnataka shops and registration act. Also you should register CST.
